The ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science brings together leading research partners. Through its founding partnership network, the Centre has a critical mass of researchers working across synthesis, characterisation, device fabrication and simulation of a wide variety of exciton materials and devices that have the potential for impact across energy harvesting, lighting and security/sensing areas. This expertise provides the Centre with an ability to rapidly conceptualise and synthesise materials then assess their viability in a variety of device architectures and applications.
In this highly competitive and rapidly changing world, accelerating research into promising materials is vital towards achieving academic recognition and securing Intellectual Property. Through its coordinated research approach, the Centre works with strategically aligned research partners to help accelerate research outcomes in exciton materials and devices towards commercialisation.

The Centre brings together leading research partners and industry partners in the area of exciton science. One of its major objectives is the successful translation of its research outcomes into commercial arenas. We are working to achieve this through a tiered framework that acts to
- Develop end-user relevance of research.
- Accelerate research and development through strategic partnerships.
- Translate Centre outcomes through its major engagement channels.
To maximise the opportunity for research translation, the Centre develops its research platforms in an inclusive manner with all relevant stakeholders, including industry partners and potential end-users.
The Centre is actively looking for suitable industry partners and end-users to help identify, guide and accelerate exciton research towards successful translation. With flexible IP arrangements and dedicated commercialisation staff, we are a centre that is looking to partner to accelerate the commercialisation of next generation of technologies.
For more information regarding research translation opportunities, contact us at email@example.com.
The Centre is focussed on developing strategic and long-term partnerships across advanced materials and electronic device industry sectors to enable and accelerate the translation of exciton research. This is achieved through either technology pull or technology push approaches.
Technology Pull: the Centre works with industry partners to identify suitable research problems in the area of exciton science that require basic and applied research as a pre-requisite towards commercialisation. Translation of research outcomes occurs through the industry partner.
Technology Push: the Centre develops strategic partnerships for projects that have originated from blue sky research concepts and that require an acceleration of their development to technology readiness levels (TRL) that are beyond that achieved by universities (TRL 1 to 2). By working with suitable industry partners, technologies are either translated to the partner or accelerated through to higher TRL levels for commercialisation. Intellectual property agreements are determined through individual IP agreements on a case-by-case basis, which will be set up in order to encourage partnership and, ultimately, translation.
For more information on how to partner with the Centre on either Technology Pull or Technology Push concepts, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Sarah Mulvey, Chief Operating Officer on +61 3 8344 2428.
By working at the cutting-edge of exciton materials and their technologies, the Centre provides an exciting and highly multi-disciplinary research environment for students, post-docs, academics and industry.
The Centre’s focus on basic through to applied science across simulation, synthesis, characterisation and fabrication of exciton materials and devices enables an eclectic mix of academic and commercial interests to merge. This provides an ideal learning environment for students that want to excel academically, but have a taste of entrepreneurship and research translation.
If you are an enthusiastic prospective honours, masters or PhD student with a passion for learning and want to challenge yourself, then we are looking forward to hearing from you!
